The Longs Peak Chorus wrapped up a joyful and meaningful holiday season with a series of Christmas performances across northern Colorado, bringing barbershop harmony — and plenty of holiday spirit — to audiences in Longmont and Loveland.
During the weekend of December 13–14, the chorus presented three Christmas shows, including two performances in Longmont and one in Loveland. Centered around the festive theme “Jingle All the Way,” the shows featured a mix of classic carols, contemporary holiday favorites, and barbershop-style arrangements that delighted audiences of all ages.
Each performance ended on a particularly memorable note. As the final song, chorus members surrounded the audience and sang “Auld Lang Syne,” creating an intimate and emotional moment that many attendees described as a highlight of the evening. The unique staging brought singers and listeners together, reinforcing the sense of community that defines the chorus’ mission.
Audience reactions were overwhelmingly positive, with several songs earning especially strong responses. Chorus member Jim McClelland, who was unable to sing in the shows, shared his perspective as an audience member:
“At both performances, ‘Believe’ was by far the best delivery.”
In addition to the main stage performances, the Longs Peak Chorus also spent Mondays in December performing at several assisted living centers throughout the Longmont area. These sing-outs offered a quieter but deeply meaningful way to share music with the community.
New chorus member Eric Andrews-Sharer, who performed two quartet numbers and sang a solo in “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” reflected on the impact of those visits:
“As much as I enjoyed the Christmas shows I equally enjoyed the sing outs. While the audience numbers may have been small, the looks of enthusiasm and enjoyment in their faces was priceless to me.”
Together, the concerts and sing-outs embodied the spirit of the season — celebrating music, connection, and service. Whether performing for full houses or intimate gatherings, the Longs Peak Chorus once again demonstrated the power of harmony to bring people together and make the holidays a little brighter.
